Today we continue our series on the church and the teams that we believe God would have us focus on as a community of believers. We talked about stewardship or administrative, discipleship, and last we talked about serving the Lord or ministry. Today i want to share a little about worship. Today you will here many people say about a church service the worship stinks or was bad. It seems when have narrowed down worship to be between 9-12 on Sunday morning or for some Saturday night. I will said that is worship be that is not where worship starts. I want to give a simple definition of worship today, when one through his spirit comes into friendship and intimacy with God. So how do we do that today, let’s look at an Old Testament character who lead a nation in worship.
Ezra 7:8-10
They arrived at Jerusalem in the fifth month of the seventh year of the king’s reign. Ezra had scheduled their departure from Babylon on the first day of the first month; they arrived in Jerusalem on the first day of the fifth month under the generous guidance of his God. Ezra had committed himself to studying the Revelation of God, to living it, and to teaching Israel to live its truths and ways.
- Preparation
- Ezra committed himself to studying the Word.
- Psalm 24:3-6
- Who may climb the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies. They will receive the Lord’s blessing and have a right relationship with God their savior. Such people may seek you and worship in your presence, O God of Jacob.
- Activation
- To living It
- Luke 8:21
- But He answered them, My mother and My brothers are those who listen to the Word of God and do it!
- Generation
- Teaching Israel to live its truth and ways
- Psalm 78:6-8
- so the next generation might know them even the children not yet born and they in turn will teach their own children. So each generation should set its hope anew on God, not forgetting his glorious miracles and obeying his commands. Then they will not be like their ancestors stubborn, rebellious, and unfaithful, refusing to give their hearts to God.
