Freedom in Christ (Colossians 2:8-15)
We continue our series from the book of Colossians last week we talked about the authority of Christ or the Power of Christ...
The Power of Christ
Today were are beginning to study from the book of Colossians and over the next few weeks we will look into some different passages from the book and see if what Paul was writing to the church at Colosse still applies to us today, and I am sure it does but sometime we just need to draw these truth out for us today less for forget. Just a little background about the church at Colosse. Epaphras, leader of the church in Colosse in Asia Minor (Colossians 4:12), came to Paul in Rome with good news and bad news about the church of Colosse. The good news was the gospel had born fruit among the Colossians (Colossians 1:6), who were continuing in the faith (Colossians 1:4) in Christ and in love for their fellow believers. The bad news was the Colossians were being troubled by a new teaching that was contrary to the gospel which Epaphras had been preaching to them. The new teaching claimed a profound knowledge apart from Christ Colossians 2:8, the new false teaching in effect denied the total sufficiency of Christ for salvation and the completeness of Christ's atonement.
Submit to Government
Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. 4 For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. 5 Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake. 6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very thing. 7 Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.
Dreams, making them come true.
Today I just want to share with you some that I learned on vacations and I had the opportunity to go to the Magic Kingdom. We all have dreams as kids and I hope we have them as adults as well, I want to share today with you of how to make you dreams come true.
He Final Bait: Living as example
Today we wrap up our series on the different kinds of bait that we can use to present the Gospel to those who are seeking and looking for hope. It is our prayer that we will have the opportunity to put this in practice in the coming weeks. Pray the God opens a door for you to be able to share the Good news this week.
