The Four P’s

This is that week of between; it comes after the excitement of Christmas. Many of us just want relax until the new year and think about what is ahead as we enter 2010. What happening this week. I want us to think about four P’s this week.

Joy To The World

Today is the next to last sermon on the advent candle and the purpose the only one that needs to be lit after today is the white which we will not on Christmas Eve which represents the birth of Jesus. Today the fourth candle is representative of Joy the joy that was just proclaimed by the choir and the joy that is around the world at Christmas Time. Just walk with me for a few minutes as we look at the joy of the Christmas story.

The Hope of a Nation

Today is the beginning of the advent season the start of the new year for the church, each year we lit candle and have reading that relate to the advent season and this year I want to spend some time talking abut each of the over the next four weeks. I want our kids to be able to answer the question why do we light these candles each year. The three purple candles in the Advent wreath symbolize hope, peace, and love. These candles are lit on the first, second, and fourth Sundays of Advent. The rose candle, which symbolizes joy, is usually lit on the third Sunday.
