Today we continue to talk about commitment and I want to share a few things with you today about the commitment that God made to each of us as we celebrate the Lord’s Supper. This was a commitment to allow us a way to eternal life to rescue us from death and eternal damnation. This was because of love that God commitment His Son to us on the cross. This story reminds me such much of the story of Abraham and his willingness to sacrifice his son. What was so great about that is the same thing that is so great as we celebrate the Lord’s Supper. That day God provided a ram so Abraham wouldn’t have to sacrifice son, and God provided the Perfect lamb His son as a sacrifice for all of us here today who have accepted Christ as your Savior.
Luke 22:14-20
When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table. And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God.”
After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you. For I tell you I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.
