Discipleship Team Notes
What is your plan for success in life and personal growth? Most of us agree that we need to grow spiritually, so what do we do about it…nod our head and agree with all the rest…and do nothing. If you want something to happen, you must do something intentionally to make it happen. You need to make an effort. You need a plan written down to follow and then to see your achievements.
Earlier this year we suggested that you read the New Testament all the way through. That was setting a goal for yourself if you decided to join in doing the reading. What have you gained from it? You have more knowledge, wonderful knowledge of the Holy Word of God. It is worth the effort.
Start with self. Make a plan with some goals. Invest some time for you. Don’t make an impossibly long list for yourself that you can’t do. Start with small time frames and work toward longer ones. Read the Bible, be silent – give God a chance to talk with you, pray. Sing a hymn or a new worship song. It’s exciting to learn. Every time you read the Bible you will learn. And that is an exciting adventure. You have to get out of your comfort zone. Have a desire to learn. Stretch out…try something new…and as you learn, pass that on to others.
Listen to good music or read a poem or a good book. Our Leadership team has copies of “Leadership Gold”
by John C. Maxwell. Borrow a copy and see how your leadership abilities can grow.
New news
We are planning to have a picnic and hayride at Southeastway Park in early October. Informal pictures will be taken then, for our new church members and friends directory. Hope to let you know more next month about this event. We will be working on getting your information for the directory soon.
Connect Groups
Our Fine Arts classes will resume on September 17th, with a lesson in cake decorating.
Ladies, let us know of your interests so we can plan accordingly.
If you want to lead a group for Fall classes or offer your home as a meeting place, please let the D Team know this. See list of team members on the bulletin board.
