We’re developing a few small group Bible studies or “connect groups” to be available soon.  I hope to see you get involved and fellowship with one another while growing in the Lord!  More details about the connect groups will come in the bulletin or on the board in the back by the nursery.

“Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.  Rescue the weak and needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”
-Psalm 82:3-4

I know nearly everyone has seen someone on the side of a road or at an intersection with a sign asking for food, work, money, etc.  It’s easy for us to be skeptical of them and say they could get a job and earn an honest living or they are trying to scam people.  And how can you tell if someone genuinely needs help?  This is a tough question with a simple answer.  It doesn’t matter.  It’s not our place to judge these individuals and if we feel in our heart to give to someone, we should give without worrying if they truly deserve it.  Matthew 5: 41-42 says, “If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.  Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you”.  So we should give generously- and if the person we give to is being untruthful, that’s on them.  We did our part.

One connect group coming soon will serve the poor and homeless in Indianapolis.  One afternoon every other week a sandwich or other simple meal will be prepared and taken to downtown Indy to give to the homeless.  Prayer will also be given.  As the psalm above states, God calls us to help those who are less fortunate than ourselves.  If you are interested in participating in this group, please contact Aaron, Rachel, or Mark.  If you are unable to go out and serve, you can still be a part of the group by donating food, water, bags, etc or meeting to help assemble bags before going out.
