Greetings from the Outreach Team,
During this Month and Joyful Christmas Season Woodside Community Church is providing you with several opportunities for you to share with others your joy, faith and hope in Jesus our Savior. Many hearts are open this time of year to hear The Good News and it is OUR job to let them hear it.
Have you told your friends, neighbors, coworkers, acquaintances about ….
Breakfast with Santa??????? The Posadas?????? The Christmas Cantata????????
Breakfast with Santa will start at 9am on December 11th. Bring some of you neighborhood children that you know don’t go to church. They will get to enjoy a great breakfast, talk to Santa and hear about the birth of our Savior. Studies show that most people make their decision to ask Jesus into their heart for eternal Salvation as a child. So, this is your opportunity to give some children the chance to make that decision.
Is there someone you have been talking to about Jesus? Have you tried to show them the love of Jesus? Is it awkward and uncomfortable sometimes?? Invite them to the Christmas Cantata !!! As I said before, many hearts are searching and more open to the Word this time of year. Tell them a little about the Christmas Cantata, pray pray pray, and ask them if they would like to attend one of the performances. You will be blessed and surprised at what happens just because you invited them.
What is a Posada?????
Posada is the Spanish word for inn. The Posadas is a Mexican caroling tradition that we are adapting for fun and outreach. There are nine nights of Posadas to represent the nine months Jesus was in the womb. Each night carolers carol up and down the streets, then end at a different house. Then, there is a spacial song sung asking for the people of the home to let them in the “inn”. At first, the people in the home sing back, “no, no room”, then after more back and forth singing, the people inside the home decide to allow the travelers in. Inside they are given refreshments, and there is time for a bible verse and prayer. The final night of the 24th the posada will in between our services at church. It will include a slightly larger celebration.
Starting the 16th thru the 24th each night we will be meeting in a a different home/neighborhood. We will meet at the hosts home, and sing Christmas carols in their neighborhood. We will end at the host home where we will sing the special Posada song asking to be let in. I am organizing the dates and locations now of the Posadas. It will be important that we have people from church attend as many of the locations as possible. Why??? because it is fun and we need people who like to sing to help with singing of the special song along with the caroling. All carolers from all neighborhoods are encouraged to attend the other locations.
The Posadas is an opportunity for you to get your neighbors, family, and friends involved in an exciting fellowship time to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
Matthew 28:16-20
The Great Commission
16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
JESUS TOLD THEM TO GO!!!!!!!!!!
We have several great opportunities this month to GO and spread the joy of celebrating the birth of our Savior that was sent for us from our Father in heaven.
