Before I tell you about this month’s hymn, I want to say thank you to the ones who sang with us at the Song Fest. It was loads of fun and sincere worship of our Lord! Yes, we will do that again as requested.
This hymn was sung a lot back in the younger days of my life. Its an oldie but goodie…….
It was known by two separate names, I believe this was first…”Rapture”. The second and most well known name was “Saved, Saved” Words and music were written by Jack P. Scholfield, 1882 – 1972.
This hymn was written in 1911. He was, what was known in those days as a “singing evangelist”. He explained, “The melody just came to me, almost as a gift. Then I simply tried to make the words fit the tune. It was popular from the start.”
Titus 3:4 – 7 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us, generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.
Saved, Saved!
I’ve found a Friend who is all to me,
His love is ever true;
I love to tell how He lifted me
And what His grace can do for you.
He saves me from every sin and harm,
Secures my soul each day;
I’m leaning strong on His mighty arm;
I know He’ll guide me all the way.
When poor and needy and all alone,
In love He said to me,
“Come unto Me and I’ll lead you home,
To live with Me eternally.
Chorus:
Saved by His pow’r divine,
Saved to new life sublime!
Life now is sweet and my joy is complete,
For I’m saved, saved, saved!
Are you saved? Is He your friend
Does He protect you? Is He with you every step of the way?
YES!
