Today we are going to look at one of the most familiar passages in the Bible, but I hope to steer in a different direction that the passage is usually used for.  Psalm 23 is read at many funerals and in times or sorrow.  Today I want us to look at it as a song of Thanksgiving.  So as we journey through lets be thankful for the Great Shepherd.

Psalm 23

  • The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need.
  • He lets me rest in green meadows;  he leads me beside peaceful streams.
  • He renews my strength.  He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.
  • Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.
  • You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies.  You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings.
  • Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.

I am Thankful For:

  • He gives the needs of my life.
  • He has what best for me in mind.
  • He gives me the help I need.
  • He is beside in the good and bad times.
  • He allows me the blessing beyond measure.
  • He will allow me to live with Him forever.
